Windber Medical Center is seeking a PA-C for the Emergency
Department. This position is responsible for providing comprehensive
health care to patients in collaboration with the physician including
medical evaluation, treatment, counseling & referrals. The ideal
candidate must be a graduate of an accredited program for Physician
Assistant with NCCPA certification. 3-5 Years experience as a PA-C in
Family Practice Medicine is preferred.
PHARMACIST
(November 27, 2007)
This position interprets, prepares and verifies all patient medication
orders and oversees their preparation. As such, the staff pharmacist
supervises the preparation of and/or prepares unit dose medications,
out-patient prescriptions and IV mixtures. Monitors procedures for
control and distribution of controlled substances. Reviews patient
records for correct pharmacotherapy. Orders necessary supplies and/or
drugs as needed. Four-year Bachelor’s degree and Valid Pennsylvania
Pharmacist license required. One-two years related experience.
INPATIENT CODER
(November 16, 2007)
Successful candidate should possess prior experience as inpatient
coder in acute care hospital. Experience with ICD-9-CM, procedure
coding, and DRG validation. Knowledge of MS-DRGS and 3rd
Party Payor guidelines is preferred. Excellent time management and
organizational skills are required. Minimum 2 years experience with
inpatient hospital medical records coding preferred.
CERTIFIED
SURGICAL TECHNOLOGIST (May
1, 2008) This position has the responsibility of meeting the needs of
surgical patients effectively and efficiently by assisting in patient
care while in the surgical suite. Patient care includes age and case
specific needs of all elective and emergency surgeries while
performing routine and delegated duties. This position also includes
performing the sterilization process of instrumentation and
maintaining adequate supplies as needed. One year certification from
college or technical school required. CPR preferred at time of hire,
required within 6 months of hire date. Three to six months related
experience and/or training preferred.

This position is responsible for providing total patient care
for each HH patient that is based on the individual patient and
medical care plan with appropriate age-specific assessments,

with providers and/or payors. This position is also responsible for

high quality care in a cost effective and efficient manner by
recognizing and adhering to reimbursement guidelines. Assist with
coordinating performance improvement projects for Home Health/Hospice,

Translational Cancer Research (2
positions) (January 3, 2007)
The Windber Research Institute (WRI) invites scientists with
demonstrated excellence in cancer research and a strong interest in
translating these discoveries into pre-clinical research and potential
therapies to apply for the position of Staff Scientist or Senior Staff
Scientist in cancer genomics. Areas of particular interest include:
genome instability in cancer, genetics of tumor progression,
metastatic potential, and tumor microenvironment. Scientists with an
interest in cancer stem cell biology, markers for early detection of
cancer, molecular profiling of tumors, and chromatin remodeling and
epigenetics also would be considered favorably. Researchers using
systems biology approaches in their research are especially encouraged
to apply, as are individuals with a focus on diseases related to women’s
health, e.g. breast and ovarian cancers.
Candidates must have a Ph. D., M.D., or equivalent degree,
comprehensive, advanced training, and a record of accomplishment in one
of the targeted areas. Successful applicants will join a highly
interactive and multidisciplinary research environment and are expected
to take advantage of interactions with a highly collegial group of
scientists.
